I'd suggest a sleep study too- I had really bad night-sweats as well. I didn't notice an odor, but it was still really gross. Believe it or not, it STOPPED when I started using the CPAP. Although I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the machine, that's definately one in the plus column for it. :)
