Apnea attutude

Posted by Texassleepy on June 13, 2002 at 09:20:42:

I was recently terminated for "being Rude to a customer" While this is definitely not the norm for me as I have always been good with my customers. When I have problems with my OSA I am irritable ( why I got tested my wife and family said I was always fussing and being mean with them it almost caused a divorce. I also have alot of trouble carrying on conversations where I have to stop rethink and collect my thoughts it is as if the thought process is not what it should be. To help with my OSA problems I had sinus surgery about 6 months ago due to swollen and infected sinuses.I also started to take allergy shots but could not get to stay in my area of town to take the shots and did not have enough vacation time to cover getting the shots weekly ( we can only use vacation in 4 hr blocks) I would also take a nap between service calls 5 or 10 minutes and nap at lunch time when possibel as my job sends me from one office to another repairing copiers. My former supervisor and I talked about OSA and what it did to me and how it affected me and how if I seemed edgie to please let me know as it was not an intentional thing but a problem with my OSA and sleep loss which alot of the times I do not see coming on. I also gave him info on sleep apnea and a copy of an article in mens health magazine. I get no help in fighting this termination from HR under the ADA and they say that I never requested accomidations thought I did by asking for their help with watching to see if I was edgie orby telling him I sometimes had to take a nap to help me out. What can I do where can I go? I have to have as much support as possible before the EEOC will help.
