Tiredness, sleepiness, fatigue

Posted by pava on June 13, 2002 at 14:02:52:

I had thought that I never got sleepy, and had heard that doctors didn't think someone had a sleep disorder if they said they had problems with fatigue.

I never thought about tiredness though.

On Tuesday I went to my internist because my wheezing and coughing isn't in control with all the medications she has given me. She had asked me how I felt during the day, and I said I didn't have the enthusiasm and energy that I needed to do things I should.

When I looked at the things she put down as for purpose of visit, I saw she put down Asthma and Tiredness.

The light dawned. I am not fatigued, but tired. You can be tired from not sleeping well. You can be fatigued for many reasons.

I don't know why this makes me feel better. I do know that when I feel awful in the afternoon it is because I am tired. I don't fall asleep, or have overwhelming sleepiness, I just feel sometimes so tired I don't feel I can move. I just feel absolutely miserable!

And what does that remind me of? The endless times my mother would say "I'm so tired I don't care if school keeps or not". Boy I can identify with that one.
