ResMed AutoSet Spirit AutoCPAP

Posted by OzChrisR on June 13, 2002 at 15:30:33:

Well, yesterday I got a Spriit with attached humidifier, plus a full face series II mask. In a little while I'll put some more info plus also will update the web page I had done earlier listed on an earlier forum with the various software reports of the Autoset T, 418P and autoadjust LT (that page may not now work as the ISP hosting it closed down.)

My first comment on the Spirit, besides it seeming to be very nicely put together, is that the data I though was available on the LCD panel to any end user only shows on the LCD panel in 'clinician' mode.

the Normal mode will show the mask fit for the previous night, 95% pressure reached for the previous night, and leak dat for the previous night, plus hours used.

The Clinician mode wil show you all that plus Apnea Index, Apnea Hypopnea Index for previous night, week, month and entire usage period. That is fine if you know, or are shown how to access the clinician menu, a pity it is not avaialble to end user by default.

Although NO other autoPAP to my knowledge gives that data without you having the software to query itso it is no worse in that respect than any other autoPAP, and is better in that you don't need to connect to your PC to see the previous nights details.

I found it very quiet, quieter even than the 418P that I had previously.

I also found that after use with the heated humidifier it blows *very* gently (so quietly you don't hear it, but can feel a slight blow of air out the hose) for a while (I found in the manual it may do it for up to an hour). The manual says it doe shat to help cool the heating plate, though it may also help in making usre condenstaion doesn't end up forming somewhere you might not want it.

more later

Cheers

Chris R
