The long blower time is to dry the humidifier, hoses, and mask out after use (a highly recommended practice after emptying the humidifier champber, and drying out the mask if needed, reconnect everyting and let it run for 30 min to 1 hour to dry things out). This helps prevents crud from growing in them (mold needs moisture).
