I used a CPAP and had difficulty exhaling against the the pressure (I'd yank the mask off in the middle of the night). I was tested on a bi-level and found it much easier.

My ONLY complaint is that I tend to take a half-beat rest after I exhale, and the machine sort of "forces" me into another breath before I feel naturally ready. It kicks immediately into another cycle as soon as it "feels" my exhale complete.

It also sounds different because the pressure cycles higher and lower as you breathe. My husband says it sounds a little bit like he's sleeping in a hosiptal next to someone on life support, but he says it beats the snoring and gasping.

I'm getting used to it. I'm newly diagnosed, so I didn't have much of a chance to get used to the CPAP before switching to the bi-level. Good luck.
