BIPAP, often of the S/T variety, is used for a number of other conditions with and without sleep apnea involvement.
Two that come to mind is Post Polio Syndrome, and COPD.
If you check the manufacturers sites, BIPAP S/T type machines are not listed under sleep apnea.

When you get your machine try to get the dme to set it up in your home. Lay down in your bed and get relaxed, then try a slow breathing as you would when sleeping. Have the respiratory therapist adjust your machine accordingly.
Although we can learn to follow the machine, and you will in some cases, they put all the expensive adjustments on it so that they can set the maachine to your needs.
