I would think that it's possible that the pressure you were on wasn't the optimal pressure for you. There can be other reasons for REM rebound too. For example, withdrawal of certain medications can cause a person to have an excessive amount of REM sleep. Also, I agree with Steph, ask your doctor. If he/she is a sleep specialist, they should be able to easily explain REM rebound and all your other questions. Please keep us informed.
