Thanks for all the information. I was diagnosed with it back in May of 2001. I am not overweight, and I have tried a CPAP with not to great of results. Mine is set at 9lbs of pressure. I seem to take it off in my sleep for no apparent reason. My RDI was 65, whatever that means and my longest time without breathing was 28 seconds. Alot of people especially in the service don't think that sleep apnea is a big deal, at least at my last unit. I also know a commander who has sleep apnea who just "sucks it up", as I was told to do by somebody. I will probably be getting out on disability also soon, I was just curious as to how people who have it see the syndrome. I have thought about a trach but i don't know for sure, I am 29 years old with 2 little babies and a wife. I am gonna think about it if I still have trouble with the CPAP. Thank you everybody!
