A few years ago I had a CPAP that kept blowing fuses during a month-long visit to China. Finally I bought a couple of cheap transformer/converters at a local swap and shop--one for the CPAP and one for the humidifier (total investment, about $7.00). Since I was desperate by that point I didn't worry about cycles or anything else--just that I could plug in my machines and get some electricity flowing. I used the setup every night for over a month with no problems at all and no damage to either machine. I'm not recommending this approach, but I think I worried a little too much about it--the cycles just weren't a problem.

BTW, Tandy's (like Radio Shack) in Europe sell a complete line of good transformers and converters--your machines will think they never left home!
