It was a Tranquility Quest and was supposed to run on either 110 or 220 V. For some reason it couldn't adjust to the foreign current and kept blowing its internal fuses. The voltage transformer allowed me to run it on 110 and it was happy with that. BTW, I couldn't find the manufacturer-specified "slow blow" fuses in China and had to resort to the regular kind used with electronic gear--but they worked fine.
