Mixed Apnea

Posted by Dennybop on July 18, 2002 at 22:16:38:

I got the results from my latest test today. I've been on CPAP for just over two years. My titration level is 19. The results of my last overnight visit show that CPAP has been fairly successful at preventing my OSA. When I was first diagnosed I was suffering from several hundreds of events a night. Latest results show about 20-30 OSA's. I guess I can live with that. Still, in the course of three hours (all the time I was able to get sleep at the clinic...about the same at home) I had 57 Central Apneas. Needless to say, I am still exhausted, I am unable to function well during the day, and I feel like I may as well have gotten no benefit from the CPAP...The Central's make any progress there a moot point. I'm about at the end of my rope. I'm 46 with a very young outlook on life. I'm single and I should be out there enjoying my work, my friends and myself. Instead, I've become a recluse, I can't work as much as I want to, and I have to struggle with the disappointment this has caused me. I don't want this to ruin my life any more than it already has. I'm I've been trying to find somethin, ANYTHING to improve my life. Does anyone out there have any advice. It seems there is so little info about Central Apnea events and how to deal with them. I was sent home today with an oxometer and another devise to check O2 and heart rate. I got a prescription for Trazadone. HELP!
