I am on provigil right now for EDS and to increase concentration. It works pretty well for me, with few side effects.
I haven't tried dexedrine, but have tried cylert, aderral, and ridalin (some didn't work and some had adverse side effects).
Taking stimulants may treat the side effects of apnea, but they are not a cure. I am more alert during the day, but still have apneas at night.
I hope that you and your doc have discussed a sleep test and possible CPAP therapy.
There is a lot of info in the archives about stimulants, especially in the narcolepsy forum.
Good luck, and don't enter into this lightly.
