The following AutoCPAPs can be used with ANY humidifier: Sunrise Medical/DeVilbiss/Horizon AutoAdjust LT, Mallinckrodt 418A and 418P (the 418P is a much supperior machine over the "A"), Respironics Tranquility Auto, Respironics Remstar Auto (although you may not be able to dry the humidifier and hose out afterwords).

Resmed claims that the AutoSet T only works with their own humidifiers - but many people use other humidifiers with the AutoSet T without difficulty.

The Virtuoso is extreemly limited and normally does not work with any heated humidifier (and clearly works best with the "Oaisis").

Please go back to forum 69 and find a posting I did on AutoCPAP triggers.

Software is redily available for the AutoAdjust LT and the AutoSet T. The other machines have widely varying software prices and availability (although you can find them). The Remstar Auto requires a smart card reader and the smart card reader software (the machine was not intended for patient download).

In general you need a Dr's perscription for the software. The main exception is the AutoAdjust LT which does not require a perscription to get the software (see this and the last forum for postings about software).
