Posted by Kirk on July 29, 2002 at 13:23:19:Hello to all my sleep challenged contemporaries.
My name is Kirk and I am a CPAP user, it has been nearly four months since I stopped the vicious circle.
I have been using a CPAP with a heated humidifier since Apr 02 at a pressure of 11 and I have to admit that learning to live with a CPAP is a process and not an event.
I have been through the mask masochism; the mask I have now doesn't cause a massive red spot on my forehead...
I have been through the magical missing mask in the morning syndrome, and an increased humidity level seems to virtually eliminate that...
The one thing that stands between me and a semi-normal nights sleep is excruciating lower back pain. I usually wake up around 5 am with significant back pain, to the point where I can't sleep. It will go away by 8 or 9 am but it is really cramping my style.
I had back pain 10 years ago but it went away with my OSA twitching and flopping around. Now that I sleep (in one or two positions) all night I can barely move in the morning.
Has anyone been through this? Does anyone have advice?
I would really like to be able to sleep until the alarm goes off in the morning:~(
