how many volts of battery power

I have a friend that has a Mallencoft Auto PAP (sp) ? She was told she needed two 12 volt marine batteries in series to power her CPAP properly. I was told by Sullivan I needed a 12 volt Marine battery to power my Elite 6 CPAP. So does anyone know just what it takes to run the CPAP?
