Surgery (mediastinoscopy)

Posted by Newbie in Chicago on August 08, 2002 at 11:21:03:

For the first time since being diagnosed with OSA, I will have to undergo a relatively minor surgical procedure, but one that nonetheless requires general anesthesia.

I assume that I will have to go on CPAP once the procedure is concluded, in order to oxygenate and come out of the anesthesia in a normal fashion (my pulmonologist is aware of the upcoming procedure and says that she will have me admitted under her care, rather than released the same day, as is normal for this surgery).

My question to you all: any personal experiences (good, bad, or indifferent) on how hospitals have handled your c-pap requirements post-surgucally?

Thanks in advance.
