Johns Hopkins Medical Letter

Posted by Joyful on August 08, 2002 at 16:22:22:

In the lastest J.H.Medical Letter, SA is defined in a very through but concise manner. Treatment is discussed and one item at the end might be of interest to you all. "An implantable device currently being evaluated at Johns Hopkins also may be available within SEVERAL years. The device electrically stimulates the hypoglossal nerve, which is located under the tongue. Stimulation of this nerve can prevent the tongue from falling back into the throat during sleep and thereby relieve upper airway obstruction" Well at least someone is working on improving the current CPAC treatment.Gives some hope for the future.
