Good joke!
Everyones upper airway is different, so if you measure the flow characteristics there are differences in those as well. Each manufacturer (that uses flow) has tuned their algorhythm to "fit" what they think are right parameters. If your individual airway characteristics fall outside what their algorhythm looks for, you may not get the desired results. Those systems that use snore in addition to flow have other issues. A recent study looking at snore between 6 auto-titrators, found that one machine was 3.5 times less sensitive than the most sensitve one. With the others scattered between the 2.

Just as there are great sleep docs and terrible sleep docs, there are great sleep centers and terrible sleep centers. Since you're overseas, I'm not sure how or if sleep centers and docs are accredited. I know there are some non-U.S. centers and staff that have taken our boards and exams. You can get the names of your docs and do a Google search on them. You can also check to see if they've published any scientific research by logging onto the National Library of Medicine site (http://gateway.nlm.nih.gov/gw/Cmd). You'll be able to see if they've published even in many non-US journals.

There are 80+ sleep disorders. Not all sleep centers are set up to look for every one (including mine). You'll want a center that records full polysomnography (EEG, EOG, EMG in addition to the normal respiratory channels), and that has staff trained to look for things like RERAs, RLS, PLMs, alpha intrusion, etc.
