Question 37 - Choosing a sleep surgeon.

From: S.

Hi doctor, I have found an experienced oral surgeon to perform a MMA for my sleep apnea. He said he performs 15-20 MMA's per year and has done so for 15+ years.

However, not alot of these are for sleep apnea.

Would you recommend finding someone who performs this specifically for sleep apnea?

Thanks,
S

My typical answer is to ask the potential surgeon to provide you with three prior patients that had the operation and speak with them. If he/she can not provide you some patients for reference, I would continue to look.
