Question 2 - The Marines want to break my sons jaw to treat OSA. Is it justified?

I understand from the father of a U.S. Marine who has been diagnosed with OSA. (I myself use a c-pap), that his son is about to have surgery to BREAK HIS JAW so as to cure his OSA.

He said this was the only alternative they offered him to using a c-pap , which he must have because he is about to be deployed, and could not count on power for the machine.

He must do this or will lose his retirement in 3 years. Can you tell me that this is justified?? I sounds criminal to me. Thank you,

Lots of people would trade their cpap machines for a sucessful MMA (move the jaw forward).

Many people have insurance that will not pay for this procedure and it is very expensive to pay out of pocket. If the military surgeon has done this procedure before and has a good success rate, personally I would choose the MMA over cpap. Just my personal opinion.

Having said that, there are many people who find cpap a blessing and use it sucessfully on a regular basis.
