Have you tried getting him his own cartoon characatar that he rally likes and he can sleep
with it. Or tried to get him to sleep on the
couch and when he falls a sleep get up and see
how long he goes without him noticing. This is
the last thing I have for you put his bed in
your room and see if he can go a week without
getting up. And then if he does start to move
the bed a little bit farther each day and see
how he reacts to it without you telling him.
Let me know how it goes.
