Have you thought about having her tested for allergies or increasing in activitie before bedtime. I have a 3 year-old niece who was very recently diagnosed with sensory integration disorder. I am so happy there is a medical explanation for her behavoir and habits. Now her mother and the rest of our family can look into therapy and ways to decrease the anxiety and disorder. My niece also is hyperactive and has severe allergies to chocolate and popsicles. I have done reading and found that the food coloring in many snack foods and especially popsicles has an enormous effect on childred with Hyperactivity and disorders. I suggest you research food colorings and allergies on the internet you will be amazed to find how much information there is and all of the side effects. For your daughter's disorder I truly think special exercises and a very restricted diet would help her sleep pattern. Are u aware that sleep disorder and axiety are the main symptoms of sensory integration disorder? A suggested reading which is fantastic is "the out of sync child". If you haven't already read it I suggest you pick it up. I understand your frustrations but the best way to help the disorder and make you and your daughters day and evening pleasant is to understand the disorder. It has great suggestions for activities before bedtime. CHildren with this disorder do not need relaxation before bedtime they need as much activitie as possible to get it out of their system for their body to calm down. Just think if your daughter has a sensory dysfunction she probably has sensitive reaction to foods as well.
Hope this will help,
Good luck,
Bonnie
