Sleepless baby

I have a 1 year 9 months old son who refuses to sleep at night. He cries a lot and is very restless the moment I put him to sleep but as long as he is not in bed he is ok no matter what time it is. I have tried to cut on his sleep during the day. He will still cry and make a fuss even though he has not slept the whole day. Please help
