My 2-1/2 year old son has trouble falling asleep at night. His bedtime is 8:00 p.m., and he has to get up at 6:00 a.m. because his father and I both work. I try to keep to a routine with him, changing his diaper, if necessary, brushing his teeth, reading a story, saying his prayers, and tucking him into bed. He likes to look at a book for a few minutes and I always play cassette tapes for him to cut down on noise from the rest of the house, since we have a fairly small house. We leave his bedroom door open, because he used to get hysterical if we closed it. For a while, after starting to leave his door open, he had no sleep problems. Now, though, it sometimes takes him 2-3 hours to fall asleep. I'm afraid that he's not getting enough sleep, plus I know its frustrating for him to just lay there. What should we do?
