2 1/2 yr. old waking up every night

Posted by nicole on February 10, 2000 at 12:47:16:

My son is 2 1/2 and up until Christmas of this year he slept pretty well. He has had no trouble falling asleep by himself but while visiting the grandparents at home I slept with him due to a shortage of beds, since then he has only slept once or twice all the way through the night. He usually wakes up between 1 and 3 am wanting his daddy. My husband made the mistake of letting him up in the bed with him to sleep for a little bit each night just because we were both so tired. We stopped letting him in the bed at all during the night about two weeks ago and now we take him straight to bed and tell him it is time to go to sleep. Some nights he goes straight back to bed with minamal crying and other nights he has a fit and comes back into our bedroom 3 or 4 times. I thought that being consistant and not letting him up with us would discourage him but it hasn't stopped him at all. Also, he has decided to stop taking naps so we put him down between 7:30-8:00 and he gets up in the morning around 6-6:30. I have ordered two books on the subjuct and are waiting for them to arive, any suggestions?
