10 yr old sleep problems

Posted by David C on February 17, 2000 at 09:06:54:

My ten year old daughter, stable home, good at school, often complains that she can not go to sleep. She says she isn't tired. I often visit her room after putting her down and find her asleep. Then she will wake up and not know that she has been asleep. She sometimes sleep walks and has to be put back in bed. She asks us every night to check on her. She also says that she is afraid that she will be the only one awake in the house.
We don't know what is going on. Is there a definitive study or book on the subject? Should she be evaluated? And if so, by whom? Please reply by email. Many thanks.
