Son's sleeping habits

Posted by Brenda Winders on February 28, 2000 at 08:19:31:

I have an 11 yeatr old son who is deaf/blind.He gets 4 ml. of chloral hydrate, 7.5 mg of valium, and 6 gr. of meletonin for going to sleep each night. This will put him to sleep, but he rarely sleeps through the night. He will sleep for a couple of hours then be up the rest of the night. He does not sleep in the daytime. My question is, is there medications tht have a loner lasting effect to get him to sleep through the night? He has been on this medication for about 8 yrs.I will be consulting with his Doctor. We live in a small town in Alaska and his doctor usually consults with outside doctors, but any information you can provide may be helpful. Thank You, Brenda Winders
