toddler crying until vomiting

i have an 17mo. old daughter who has had troubles going to sleep in her crib off and on for many months. she has had a lot of respiratory problems since birth, and we have given in and put her inour bed. i don't want this to continue. we have tried ferberizing her, but my problem is that if i let her cry for more than one minute, she violently vomits. i thought she was doing this as a behavior, but after looking close, i don't think so. does anyone else have a kid that vomits at bed as a result of crying? if so, send me a note.
