My daughter bangs her head every night to get to sleep

Posted by DonnaF on March 29, 2000 at 05:27:14:

My daughter is 7 years old and has banged her head from side to side nearly every night since she was around 2. She will quite often bang her head for around 4 hours and sometimes does it in her sleep unknowingly. Needless to say, she is very tired the next day. I have taken her to the ear nose and throat hospital and they cannot find anything wrong. She also has problems breathing through her nose, during the day and at night.

I'm not sure whether this has become a habit or whether she has trouble breathing. A lot of the time she is unaware she is doing it.

Has anybody experienced the same problems and if so how did you resolve them.

Many thanks

Donna
