I have just read the articles that have been posted about the aggressive 5 yr old. It is so nice to know that my child is not the only one!! I have a 4.5 year old son who has had sleep problems from birth. My son is alittle different from your little ones in the sense that he will not fall asleep until 2:00am, sleep for maybe 3-5 hrs then be up for the ENTIRE day without a nap! His 22 month old brother sleeps longer at night than him. My son does not awaken with night terrors, but he is a very light sleeper. We are very lucky if he sleeps more than 5-6 hours at one time. His behavior has been pretty bad lately.. His peditrican suggested we see a child psychologist who said he has ADHD and wants to put him on Ritalin or other meds. I am very aginst this. When my son does get a good nights sleep he is the best well behaved, well mannored and polite little guy you ever did meet. He has no attention deficit problems went he does sleep! I feel that he is acting this way due to lack of sleep! It seems to me that my son cannot get into a "deep sleep". His ped did check for enlarged adenoids but found nothing. When he was 2.5 our ped sent us to see a neurologist. They did a sleep deprived EEG. That came back abnormal. Now that my son is 4.5 yrs ols and our doctor is sending us back to see the neurologist. I hope he can give us some answers! Our peditrican said he doesnt know what else he can do to help us. If you have any suggestions on where I should turn next, PLEASE let us know!! My husband and I are willing to listen to anyone who can help our son. It's nice to know that were not the only ones out there with this type of problem. Our little guy does not have a behavior problem and we will not settle for that as the answer. We know there has to be more to this!! Thanks for any help:)
