He's not anxious- he just wants to always be WITH someone. A parent, aunt, cousin, other kids... whenever I start telling someone about the sleep problem,they start asking if he has separation anxiety. As long as he's not 100% alone, I can leave him anywhere. I have to actually work to get his attention to say goodbye when I leave him at day care (where, btw, he sleeps just fine).
I think he's having a hard time understanding that dreams aren't real, which is normal for that age. Last night he slept through until about 4, then came crying to us that he was scared. Right then he told us the stairs were scary (he had to walk past the basement stairs to get toour room), and we praised him for walking by them anyway. This morning he told me his room was scary because he was bouncing and fell out of an airplane. I'm assuming this was a dream and he's too young to know, or to be able to talk about it not being real.
