well, the attachment may be normal for his age, or could be exacerbated by the night events, if he's functioning tired...and he would be if he's not getting all the sleep he needs.

If he's very restless sleeper, it's also possible that he's having Restless legs (RLS) or periodic limb movements (PLMD), both of which result in frequent wakenings and can cause sleep deprivation as a result. He's young enough that he may have trouble falling asleep after the arousal.

work hard on a good sleep hygiene for him, emphasizing bedtime routine and be consistant. You may want to keep a log to look for patterns in his sleep behaviour.

You can also request a sleep study, to assess what's happening when he sleeps. Although he is so young the doctor may want to hold off to be sure it's not just associated with his age and stage of development.
