Posted by gretchen on June 09, 2002 at 21:35:05:Hi, I'm new to the board, and was looking for someone having a similar time like myself. I have a 18month old girl. no disruptions in her life, stable home, constant routine, and only a short 30/45 minute nap in the early afternoon. so what happened???? Now when it's bed time, we tell her, it's bed time, she's fine while you are in her room with her, ie turning out the light, tuning the fan, etc... but when you put her in her bed, she starts the tantrums, and i no more than get out the door, and she's crawled out of bed AND SLAMMING HER HEAD ON THE DOOR!!!! Yes! Iswear she's not mentally handicapped, just stubborn, but it's killing me, my poor baby has brusies on her forhead, and i can't take it. i thought she'd stop because it'd hurt, not her, she keeps going until you open the door, and either take her out of the room and let her play(even when she's soo tired she'd just pass out) or if you sit in her room with her, holding her, until she does to sleep. we don't fall for this, we tell her camly that it's bed time, talk to her, soothe her, but to no avail. why does she bang her head? why not just scream? she used to love bed time, loved naps, loved the quiet time she got from it, but now it's physically harming her.... i have no clue what to do. for now i have installed a gate to her door, padded it 5 inches thick, and i leave that shut, she gets a little light, but no wood to hit on... but wouldn't ya know it, she still has bruises, which makes me think she's banging her hear else where.... please help me, i'm soooo lost here, thanks... gretchen
