Because she complains of being sleepy regularly, it is worth following up with her pediatrician for a physical cause.

Sleep deprivation is recognized as a source of ADD/ADHD symptoms in children; it is a self-stimulating technique by the kids so that they can funtion through the day. She may or may not have a sleep disorder. Her symptoms may also have another cause. I think you and your husband are correct to advocate for her and follow-up with her doctors.
