To: my son
Thanks for your advise. It's nice to hear someone say "Listen to your child instead of the books." Wed. night my daughter slept about 9 hours at night. I put her down for a nap Thursday and she played for 30 min. and then cried for 20 min. I gave up and she skipped her napped. Between 3:30 and 5:30 she was a bear and almost fell asleep during dinner (I attribute that to only 9 hours of rest the night before.) But after dinner she was ready to play more. She was an angel for her bath and snack. I put her to bed at 8 and of course she fought but fell asleep by 8:30. She woke in the night around 2am. I did the cry it out thing for a half an hour and then she was quiet. So I peeked in on her and she had thrown all her stuffed animals out of her crib except one and was sitting in the middle of the crib hugging it. My heart sank... she looked so sad. So I held her about 10 min. and she held my neck tight. I laid her back down (I laid on the floor in her room - I guess she just wants some security right now) and she was asleep by 3:30 and slept all the way until 8:15am. I laid her down this afternoon for some "quiet time" and she fell asleep. So I think she might be able to skip naps some days. Thanks for the advice!!!
