Dear Kris,I'm not sure about your plight with the night terrors but I just wanted you to know that I have a 7 yr. old grandson that I've been raising since birth. He started the terrors at the age of 3 and is still having them. He was suppose to grow out of them around age 5 according to Drs.Of course were still waiting! I have just suggested to the Dr. that I would like his adnoids removed because I believe they are throwing him into some of these terrors because of the way he breaths. I know this will not get rid of the terrors but it may help decrease the number of them. This child has been considered a very severe case because he has them everynight without fail. Some nights are better than others but he still has them. He has been on medication since about the age of 4 which is addicting and he will have to be weaned off of. Were just waiting for the day to come that he grows out of them. Like I said..it was suppose to be the age of 5 or so. Your letter calling for Monica confused me because I am not under the impression that t and a causes night terrors. It might help having them removed but it is not a cure all. My grandson has been through sleep studies as well as see's a neuologist for his problem.Of course when this all started I thought it was nightmares but found out fast enough that it was night terrors. I even video taped his nights for the Dr. to see. It was really scarey and of course not knowing what I was dealing with I was trying to comfort this child which made him madder. I know what your going through and feel your frustrations.I can say that the meds my grandson is on has helped but it is scarey to think that he's now addicted and I just pray the weaning process will be easy for us to go through.I thought it would be a matter of a couple of yrs. and here we are 3-4 yrs. later. After reading your letter I am really going to push to have his adnoids out. The CT Scan showed very enlarged ones so I am sure this does not help. If I even sneeze at night or cough it throws him into a terror so I know his breathing problem is doing the same thing. Would love to talk more to you. Please write me back through this site. Just put to GRANDMA.
