Hey worriedsickmom! So sorry to hear he's started up again. We also continued to have sinus infections but as long as I didn't let them get too bad, he didn't have the terrors. He stayed on antibiotics a long time, and we kept using stronger and stronger ones. He would be better for a week maybe after each one and then get another infection. ENT and immunologist both decided to put him on prophylactic antibiotics (amoxil) and it has worked beautifully. If he has reflux which predisposes or causes the sinusitis then it seems logical to me to 1) treat the reflux which you are working on and 2) don't wait until he gets a sinus infection to treat it. If you know its coming think about trying a low dose and low strength antibiotic daily for a while. AFter probably 2 weeks he was much better (at which time I normally would have taken him off) then I kept giving him the meds for 2 months. Now he has not had nose spray, antibiotics, over the counters, nothing since June 22! He looks great feels great, he's a normal kid and it makes his mother so happy. I really trust these last 2 docs we saw. I asked the immunologist if giving him the prophylactic abx would interefere with his own natural developement of his immune system and she says no. The ent also agrees that it is the least risk/best benefit route. We did the immune testsing but it was not a problem. He was low, but low normal. The testing was very expensive ( I still think they billed me wrong) more expensive than the sleep study if you can believe that. Just consider the antibiotics. I know its not everybody has this problem and not everyone will respond the way Nathan did but it might be worth a shot. I posted my new email if you want to get it and let me know how things go. We even have a dog now and my children have no problem. They didn't have allergies, they had recurrent not resistant) infection. Good luck!
