sleep genetics

Posted by sherry on August 10, 2002 at 09:49:15:

As a grandmother who struggles with a 2 year old grandson who sleeps very poorly at night, I reflected back on how his mother slept at his age--same pattern, same concerns. She eventually outgrew this sleeplessness at age 6 years. Her sister on the other hand slept like a rock from infancy on. Her sister's little girls now sleeps like a rock. Further investigation revealed I was a terrible sleeper and my father was a horrible sleeper. As adults--we all sleep poorly. so what is the solution--perhaps none--we're stuck with our genetics and we make the best of it.
