2 year old tha refuses to sleep

I just resently got custody of my three children from the childrens aid after the mother had lost them. My middle boy will not sleep at night he will sleep for a couple of minutes and then just wake up screaming. I have tried music, I tried sitting with him, rocking him, night light and nothing seems to work and this has been going on for a week like this. He seems to have all the energy in the world but I on the other hand am wearing out.
