3 year old attachment

Posted by Bessebug on August 19, 2002 at 20:12:44:

My 3 year old son has never slept well. He slept in his own room until 18 mos. old and now sleeps with his Dad and me. He will not go to bed until I go with him- (i try to get up as soon as he falls asleep, but his eyes open as soon as I move). He also awakens as soon as I get out of the bed in the mornings. He plays with my hair (his security I suppose). When he wakes in the night, he reaches to feel for my hair- if i ever get up to go to the restroom, he calls out & asks where I am. I'm exhausted and miss the relationship I used to have with my husband. We have no time at all together. Will this attachment to me ever get better? Will he ever sleep soundly? I was always a good sleeper who slept very heavily (noises didn't wake me), but now, I'm lightly sleeping and for spans of 1-2 hours before awakening.
