we have created a monster !

Posted by Teri on September 13, 2002 at 10:36:34:

Our almost eight year old little girl has alway been allowed to come into our room and sleep in the middle of the night but for the past six months or so she has been going to bed fine at 8:oo Pm and then waking up at 10:00 or 11:00 and wanting to come into our bed , we say no and then the next hour or so is awfull !She say she "forgets" how to go to sleep , but she can sleep in our bed just fine .We are very firm about what we want her to do,she knows the rules -she is to stay in her bed till at least 3:00PM .She has alway been able sleep in her room and not wake till then but now she wakes much earlier. I know we have created this monster by always allowing her to sleep with us , now bedtime has become a very stressfull time for us all . She gets anxious about how the sleep thing will go each night now , and it's almost like a snowball that just keeps rolling along and getting bigger and bigger .Help us !!
