Sleep Problems

Posted by Brian on September 27, 2002 at 11:23:31:

OK, I am a single father. I live in Hawaii, my 3 year old daughters mom lives in Illinois (due to military). My daughter lives here 5-6 months a year and with her mom the rest of the year. I am having SEVERE problems at night. Her moom and my bedtime techniques are extremely different. Her mom shuts the door and doesn't let her out, I choose not to do that and try to sooth her to bed. She constantly asks for different things, throws things, hits, kicks (every night) while she is in her bed.... It takes about 1 hour to get her to calm down. Pre-bedtime routine, includes bath, brush hair/teeth, and a short cartoon while she lays on the couch cuddled in her blanket..... I guess I am just looking for a way to get her to realize that it is bedtime and calm down sooner, we do calm things for about 2 hours before bedtime. I tell her its dark and it is time to sleep, blablabla, help??....
