Looking for a psychological term.

As a child, after watching a few late night horror movies, I developed a rather large fear for 'living' dolls and puppets. I believe this is one of the more common fears, actually though as a grew older I become increasingly more fascinated in them, rather then scared.

I'm not sure, though I believe there is a term for this kind of thing, developing a fascination for something you feared as a child. I haven't been able to find anything yet, though maybe someone can point me in the right direction... if it even exists that is.
