This could be a sleep related behavioral problem and/or a sleep disorder. If he moves, kicks and sweats during sleep it points to a sleep related breathing disorder. Being thirsty points to the same.

He should be seen by a pediatric sleep specialist. If you can, make a video of his sleep where movements occur, showing the stomach will help.

This is a time in life where normal deep sleep is critical.
