My stepdaughter is 11 and has had a frightening experience that I'd like to find out more about. there have been 2 episodes where she appears to be awake, but is "not connecting" to anything around her and has memory loss (doesn't know her parents, thinks the month is "25", etc.)

During the 2nd episode, we rushed her to the emergency room where they did every blood test imagineable, a CT scan, urine sample, everything. Nothing unusual on any test. They transferred her to Children's Hospital where she saw a Pediatric Neurologist.

She was diagnosed with a sleep disorder that causes her to not fully awake from her "delta sleep".

These episodes are extremely frightening and confusing. She has no memory of anything that occured during them and they typically last 9-12 hours.

Has anyone heard of anything like this? I'm trying to find specific information but maybe I'm looking at the wrong place??

She is having some follow up EEGs done to be sure there is no seizure disorder, but they don't suspect that.

Any info would be great!

Thanks!
