Posted by BTRT on December 22, 2008 at 18:52:15:My daughter is over 3, but has had sleep issues since birth~ unable to get to sleep without aid, and then at poi9nt of initiation has always 'gotten physical'~ as an infant she was swaddled until about 8 months because she would kick, scratch and claw at sleep initiation (which is a long time coming).
then she kicked and rolled.
Now, at 40 months she has maniacal giggling fits, flops like a fish, screeches and generally her body sabotages her long awaited attempts to sleep. We practice a stable routine and have run the gamut of suggestions, including at age 18M normal MRI and EEG for 'unrelated' facial spasm issue.
Once she wakes in the night the same thing ensues and if it is within 2-3 hours of 'normal' waking time she cannot get back to sleep.
She always wakes up terribly cranky.
We were told a year ago to use melatonin to help her initiate and bypass the giggles etc. a year later, no improvement at all, and she basically NEVER goes to sleep naturally.
ANY help?
