Posted by sleeplessmom on January 16, 2009 at 15:59:52:My 11 yr. old daughter has had a problem getting to sleep at night for about 2 years now. She is okay until we mention it is time for bed, she gets all worked up ,stressed about going to sleep. She will lay for hours & still someone will have to lie down with her before she will dose off. She sleeps very lightly until about 4 in the morning then she doesn't know that you are leaving her to sleep alone in her bed. She has occasionally slept walked in the past. She is a very bright child , advanced in school ,avid reader of advanced books for her age. She says that she just can't get her mind settled to go to sleep. We have tried everything. The doctors said that its a phase , she will grow out of it. We are none in the family getting to rest ( especially her) How long do these phases last and any suggestions on what to do to get her to sleep better. I'm worried about the long term effects of her not getting enough rest.
