Posted by D. H. on January 28, 2003 at 22:49:40:xPAP machines should be precertified as safe for use in hospitals and aboard aircraft. Periodic re-inspection should be available as needed. Since a hospitalization might occur when you least expect it, or it might be necessary to travel on short notice, having the unit pre-certified makes a lot of sense.
In the case of hospital safety, that is the simpler one. Since xPAPs are medical devices, the manufacturers are aleady affiliated with the medical services industry. This communication shoudl be simple.
In the case of aircraft safety, this is a little harder. The xPAP manufacterers will have to talk to the airlines, to the aircraft manufacturers, and to the security experts.
