One big risk for the tinkerer, of course, would be electricity leading up to the body while the tinkerer is asleep---potentially lethal! The usual rule of thumb where safety and the human body is a concern is "low voltage whenever possible". Temperature regulation would be an issue as well: under heat, you get condensation; over heat, you get uncomfortable air to breath; *REALLY* over heat, you get a distorted hose and potentially dangerous air to breathe.
My insulating sleeve renders a heating element completely unecessary. But I would really love to see a waterproof, safe heating element that is integral to the hose so I don't have to take my insulating sleeve off every day. The long velcro seal is a cumbersome pain in the neck.
Even a hose that is well-enough insulated, completely pliable, and completely waterproof (but without a heating element) would be a genuine treat to me! Don't know if there's such a composite material on the market, so heat-assist may actually be necessary.
